Welcome to Jacqueline Slater's website

Call me to arrange a meeting, in my office or some other suitable place, this will allow us to get to know each other and for you to decide if I am the right celebrant for you. There is no obligation at this time, but I would suggest you bring your birth certificates and divorce decree or death certificate, which ever is most appropriate if you have been married before, just in case you decided to go ahead.

If you do decide you wish to proceed we will fill out a legal document called Notice of Intended Marriage which must be filled out at least one month and one day before the day of your wedding. This is also when I need to sight the certificates you brought with you. They must be originals, so if you only have copies I suggest you contact the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages to obtain certified copies. At this time I'll give you an information package to help with ideas for your ceremony. A $200.00 non refundable deposit will need to be paid and I enter your ceremony details in my diary. The payment of the deposit means that I will not take another booking for that day. The balance of the fee will be due 14 days prior to your ceremony.

I will then begin to work on your ceremony based on ideas you give me, and forward your daft ceremony to you at least 6 weeks before your ceremony. We can communicate by email, telephone or face to face meeting as many times as you like until you feel your ceremony is perfect for the two of you.

About two weeks before the wedding we should meet for a rehearsal, preferably at the ceremony venue, with your attendants to work out the 'flow' of the ceremony, and position of everyone involved in the ceremony.

On your wedding day I arrive at the venue about an hour before the ceremony is due to start. I do this to set up my PA system, signing table and chairs and to make sure everything is just as you want it. I will make myself available to greet any early guests, and to calm any last minute nerves. With all the planning we have done your day will be perfect.

During the ceremony you will sign a marriage certificate that I send to the Registrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages, my marriage register that I am required to keep by law and your marriage certificate. On the first working day after the ceremony your documents will be lodged, along with your application for a certified copy of your marriage certificate that you will need for legal reasons.
